Let's...
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2 September 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Let's ("the app", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information. Let's is operated by Siyanda Mavundla, a sole operator based in South Africa. If you have any questions, contact us at hello@letsapp.co.za.
The short version: We collect the minimum needed to help you find real-world activities near you. We never sell your data. Your exact location is never stored — it is deliberately blurred before it leaves your device. You can delete your account and all your data at any time from within the app.
Who this applies to
Let's is intended only for people aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.
Information we collect
- Account details: your email address and a display name when you sign up.
- Profile information you choose to add: a bio, profile photo, additional photos, and an optional Instagram handle.
- Approximate location: when you post or browse activities, we use your device location to show what is happening nearby. Your coordinates are rounded (fuzzed) to roughly a 1 km grid before they leave your device, so your exact position is never transmitted or stored. You can decline location access, though some features will be limited.
- Activity posts and messages: the activities you broadcast and the messages you send in group or private chats.
- Notification token: a device identifier used only to deliver push notifications to you.
How we use your information
- To connect you with people nearby who want to do the same activity.
- To create and run the group and private chats you take part in.
- To show your profile to other people you share an activity group with.
- To send you push notifications about activity you have opted into (new messages, someone joining, similar activities nearby).
- To keep the app safe — for example, acting on reports and blocks.
Who can see your information
- Other users: your display name, profile photo, and activity posts are visible to people near you. Your bio, photo gallery, and Instagram handle are visible only to people you share an activity group with.
- Nobody else, commercially: we do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to advertisers or third parties.
- Service providers: we use trusted infrastructure providers to run the app — Supabase (database, storage, and authentication), Expo and Google Firebase (push notification delivery). They process data only to provide these services to us.
- Legal: we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of users.
Third-party content
Some activities show information from third-party sources, including movie data from TMDB and event listings from Ticketmaster. Browsing this content does not share your personal information with those providers.
How your information is protected
- Passwords are stored only as secure one-way hashes — no one, including us, can read your password.
- Access to your posts, messages, photos, and profile is enforced at the database level, so people can only see what they are permitted to.
- Profile photos are stored privately and shown through temporary, expiring links.
- Screenshots are blocked inside chats on supported devices.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time from the app: go to your Profile screen and choose Delete my account under the Danger Zone. This permanently removes your profile, photos, posts, and messages and cannot be undone.
If you cannot access the app, you can request deletion by emailing hello@letsapp.co.za from the address linked to your account, and we will delete your data.
Your rights
You may access, correct, or delete your personal information. Most of this you can do directly in the app; for anything else, contact us at hello@letsapp.co.za.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "last updated" date above, and significant changes will be communicated in the app.
